Are
Some
Comments
That Spiritual seekers
Might Express About
The
Choice 101 Web Site:
.
At last, a perspective on
religion that invites me to make up my own mind about what to believe.
.
Combining
head and heart provides an approach to religion that is similar to my
approach to politics. I'm "A Reasonable" which means
on some issues I'm conservative, on others, I'm liberal, and on still
others, I simply don't have enough information to hold a strong opinion one
way or the other.
.
Are
you telling me I don't have to murder any infidels in order to get into
heaven? What a relief!
.
The web sites suggest the heaven's not a place. It's a state
of being -- a state of mind. Gee! I've known that since I
was five years old.
.
I've
always thought of a religious leaders spoke only the truth. Now
I understand that they're simply expressing their beliefs about a topic that
is, by its very nature, unknown and unknowable. Thanks for sharing
with us those long lists of unprovable assumptions and unanswerable
questions.
.
Your web sites reminds me of a sign I once saw in front of a Universalist Unitarian
Church: "All of your answers questioned here."
.
You
asked me to examine my belief in God? If you are
talking about a fickle, angry, jealous, vindictive, wrathful, vengeful,
super-human being sitting on a cloud somewhere -- a god so small
he can fit inside of a single religion or into a single sacred text -- a god so weak that he
needs our help to punish the unfaithful -- a god so weird that he murdered
his own son as an expression of love, then no, I don't believe in
god.
If
you're talking about a God that is the source of all creation -- A God that
designed the magical order of the Universe -- a God that transcends human
understanding -- a God that is the sum total of all that is -- a God
that is Total Awareness, Absolute Acceptance, and Pure Love then,
yes, I do believe in God.
.
Where
does the sky begin? At what point does day become night?
or little become big? At what point does soft become hard? of wet
become dry"? or good become evil? When does an
independent, individual human life begin? The only reasonable answer
to your questions seems to be "Whenever we say it
does!"
.
Am
I a human being dreaming about God or am I a god dreaming that I am a human
being? If I could ask God just one question, that's
what my question would be.
