The Democratic Party and the Moral Values Issue:

The Problem:   The Democratic Party must address the specific issues hiding under the so-called moral values label  quickly, clearly, specifically and individually.

Facing the Problem:  

In the 2004 Presidential election, twenty-two percent of the electorate voted for what they believed to be the candidate with the highest moral values.   In reality, these people did not vote for moral values.  They voted for a disguised, bastardized version of conservative Christian theology. 1**    Most of these voters were mindless  believers in  conservative Christian theology and and  ardent followers of their church leaders.   They voted with their minds turned off.   They voted exactly as their leaders told them to vote.   They voted against abortion rights, against  gay rights, against stem cell research. 2**  

In mindless obedience,  and without the slightest bit of consideration for what the evidence tells us, they voted for Mr. Bush.   That evidence tells us that Mr. Bush is not a genuine "born again" Christian.   His behavior and the company he keeps tells us that he is one of the Christian-talking but atheist-acting, self-centered multi-millionaires who, behind the scenes, own the structures that control the Republican Party.   The evidence tells us that he's the front man (the public spokesperson)  for this group of self-centered, multi-millionaire atheists.°   

Instead of being a genuine born again Christian, he's one of "the wolves disguised in sheep's clothing."    But please don't believe me.  Instead believe these words:  "By their fruits you shall know them."    Simply examine the evidence in the section titled:  What Did the Mindless Sheep Actually Vote For?°

The  Pro-Truth-Team°    has  developed a viable and effective, thoroughly researched, well-developed,  fully functional, and vitally needed program which, when properly  implemented, will:

1)    Expose the truth about the fraud presently hiding under the label  called "moral values,"° 

2)    Pull the false, self-righteous foundation out from under the ultra-conservative Christian extremists,°   

3)    Openly challenge the activities of the ultra-conservative Christian extremists,°   

and

4)     Provide the means and the method with which pro-choice supporters can put a stop to forced motherhood and

The Invitation:   

We are inviting members of the Democratic Party to participate in our program designed  to address the moral values issue.   Below is an overview of how to do that.

Where Are We Right Now?:   

Election Results:   In the 2004 Presidential election, nation wide, voter-place exit poles showed that twenty-two percent of voters said that their most important concern was "moral values."   Seventy-nine percent of these people voted for Bush.

What are these people talking about when they say "moral values?"   With minor exceptions, the answer is:   1) Anti-abortion,   2) Anti-gay marriage,  and 3)  Anti-stem cell-research.   All three of these issues represent values held and widely promoted by the right wing religious zealots.    In the 2004 election, these issues were peddled very  successfully by the Bush team as vote getting tactics.   But are they really moral or are they simply bastardized, Christian theology? 

Anti-gay:   The anti-gay campaign is clearly religious in nature.   We say that because with rare and minor exceptions,  anti-gay supporters are conservative Christians and base their opposition on their own  interpretation of Christian Bible.   The Bush people have inflamed and still are inflaming this issue at every opportunity.°   They peddled and continue to peddle anti-gay fear and bigotry.   They came out with and still propose a Constitutional amendment against gay marriages.   

The true intention of their anti-gay rhetoric was: "Vote for Bush."   Using religion to promote a political agenda is both unethical and extremely dangerous.  It violates the intention set down by our Founding Fathers.   It violated the American Constitution and makes whores out of both the church and the state.   See the Section titled:  When Religion and Government Join Forces the Prostitute Each Other.° 

How can denying people equal legal rights based solely on their personal, private behavior in their own bedrooms be a moral value?   

We need to pull the gay marriage issue out of the voting booth and the proposal on our web page titled,  Is Marriage For Heterosexuals Only?° tells you exactly how to do that.  

Anti-choice:   Opposition to abortion and opposition to  stem cell research  are also religious issues but their religious basis has been cleverly  hidden behind a well-orchestrated "spin-the-truth" campaign° -- a campaign based on an antiquated religious fairy tale called God's Conception Magic Act.°    The  page of our web site titled,  The Truth About the Anti-abortion War -- The Case for Choice° outlines clearly and specifically how dethrone the anti-abortion movement.   It also clearly violates the God-granted right of self determination that is the Heart of what this country was founded upon.°  The price women pay° under this disguised form of religious tyranny  is astounding.   

The Leaders toward Sanity:   You might also note that California has a history of leading the nation in bringing in new ideas.   In the 2004 Presidential election, sanity and common sense (Kerry/Edwards)  received fifty-six  percent of the presidential vote and closed-minded, religious, one-way-my-way thinking (Bush/Cheney) received  forty-four  percent.   A ballot proposition funding stem cell research won by a wide margin --   fifty-nine percent  in favor and  forty-one percent opposed.   Also, national polls show more than seventy percent  of Americans endorse embryonic stem cell research.

Nation wide, voter-place exit polls showed the following statistics in response to the question: "What is your most important concern?

22%   Moral values   
20%  Jobs and the economy
19%   Terrorism
15%   The War in Iraq

Seventy-nine percent of those who said moral values was their most important concern voted for Bush.

How to Implement the Solution:   

The specific issues hiding under the so-called moral values label must be addressed quickly, clearly, specifically and individually.    If you are still  scratching your head and saying,  "How do we do that,?"  cheer up, the answer is at hand.   Help is not only on the way, it's here right now.   

War of Words:   To resolve 'moral values" issue, we need go beneath the surface and address "belief bending,"  "truth twisting," and show how lies of omission have become God-endorsed conservative values.   See the section titled:  Control by Illusion.°  

We also need to examine the behavior of those who hide behind the moral values label.  Check out    What they actually do°   /   What they ignore in their own Bible°   /  How  they deceive others with lies of omission°   /   Their unethical-immoral behavior,°  /  Why they do it,°  /   The techniques they use,°  / The company they keep,°  /  the inevitable Consequences of their actions,° /   and   The unprovable fairytale° that their entire anti-choice war is based on.   

The enemies of the truth are hiding in conservative Christianity and have used their position to manipulate and control a large segment of the Christian population.   Thus we need to speak to this issue in language that is common to Christian believers.   Christian Bible even clearly tells us how to solve this problem    "Know the truth and the truth shall set you free."

We must embark on an in-depth truth-telling campaign  -- a campaign that exposes the false, self righteous foundation of those who are  anti-abortion, anti-gay marriage,  and anti-stem cell-research.   The claim that they are  supporting moral values is totally false.   If you read the page on this web site titled Moral Values,°  we will show you why it's false and how to expose their deception.    And most importantly,  how to trash their false, public image of moral superiority.  

Chains or Choices:   Now that you know what to do and (if you've examined our program) you know how to do it, there is still one vital  question:  ARE YOU WILLING TO DO IT?    

Option One:  If you are a closed-minded conservative hiding under the Democratic label, don't bother to read any further.   Simply turn around, bend over, and "Let George Do It!" ° 

Option Two:  If you are a open-minded,  study this treatise, and then offer us feedback.°    If you think we are on the right track, then offer your support, and your participation. 

Option Three:  Set up your own moral values defense team.   Simply use our web sites as role models.   Pick pieces that you consider worthy of emulating and take action!   

Remember:   1) the sun shines on everyone,  but the theatrical spot light only shines on he or she who demands attention.  and   2)  You can't win a war from a defensive position.

Cleaning Up the Liberal Label

The Past:   

One has only to examine what Frank Luntz has done for the Republican party to see that language is extremely important in getting voters to see things a particular way.   For example, he shifted the label of "Inheritance Tax"  to "Death Tax" and drastically changed voters opinions on this issue.   This is, in part, because "death" is a personal, sad, emotion-laden word that touches one's heart and inheritance is an anger inducing word associated with "out there" courts, lawyers, and theft by the government of property that people consider to be rightfully theirs.  The fact that it's part of the Bush Administration's "No Millionaire left behind" program is then conveniently ignored.

After Arch-conservative, Barry Goldwater's infamous, 1964  campaign statement,  "Extremism in defense of liberty is no vice. . . ,"  the word Conservative was, for a time, shunned like the plague.   

In 1988,  Michael Dukakis was overwhelmingly defeated by George Bush, Sr.   A significant part of that defeat was due to being labeled by a word so offensive, one could not even say it in public.   The Republicans called it the "L" word.   Dukakis embraced the liberal label but he never defined it.   He let the Republicans define it.   That was a major tactical error.

The Present:   

It's time to re-examine the words "liberal" and  "conservative"  and redefine both of them.   It's also time to create a new word -- a word that both transcends and embraces the words "liberal" and "conservative" -- a word that brings powerful and positive support from the listener.   None of these changes are going to occur by themselves.   All three of them will come to pass only as result of intention and action.  Here are some suggestions:

The Future:   Five words or phrases that need our attention:  

1)   Liberal:    Given the way the word 'Liberal" has been intentionally slandered, is it any wonder the it's a turnoff for many voters nowadays?   The word  is desperately in need of a facelift.   When you look at its dictionary definition,  being liberal nothing to hide from or be ashamed of.   The problem is that the word has been intentionally  slandered by those who proudly wear the label "conservative." 

It's time to return the disfavor.   It's time to re-define the word "liberal."   And it's time to bring in a new label.

2)   Conservative:     The word  "Conservative" is also in need of a face change.   We suggest turning the word  "Conservative" into a semi-swear word.    As a role model, study how the Republicans re-surfaced the liberal label as the  "L" word.    

Make "conservative" mean "mindless obedience to big brother."   Equate it with big spending, with the military industrial complex, and with corporate greed.   Give it  fascist implications.    Point out the activities of the Republican so-called conservatives. (i.e. Newt Gingrich, Charles Keating, Richard Nixon, etc.)

At the same time, use the phrase "traditional values" to refer to the positive aspect of the conservatives.   Here's an example of dethroning the word, "conservative:"

Taking care of each other seems to rank very low among what the conservative call  “moral values.”   The readiness to destroy or eliminate health care and other social-service-related, government  programs is somehow felt to be a display of patriotism.   Conservatives fight for fetal rights, but once the child is born they turn their backs and spend health care money of tanks and bombs.   Conservatives seem to have  missed this passage in their own Bible:   "What you do onto the least of mine you also do onto me."

Conservatives claim to honor God and then spit in His face.  Hypocrisy is obviously  alive, doing well, and growing like a newborn puppy under the care and control of the leaders of the conservative movement.   Speaking of movements, under its current leadership, conservatism smells a lot like some other kind of movement.

3)   Moral Values:   The term " moral values." has been intentionally misused in order to confuse people and get them to vote in a particular way.

a)   Conservative anti-choice leaders delight in forcing unwilling women to bear unwanted children.   In our view, this is not embracing  moral values.   

        Conservative anti-choice leaders simply ignore the 40,000 "already born" children who starve to death each day or die of curable diseases.   In our view, this is not embracing  moral values.   

b)   Conservative leaders arbitrarily discriminate against our brothers and sisters based on their personal, private behavior in their own bedrooms.   This is not, in our view, embracing a moral value.    Until recent years they were openly racial bigots.   Now they are closet racial bigots

c)   By refusing to allow researchers to use otherwise to be discarded embryonic stem cells  (the most promising tools to find cures for diseases)  conservative leaders allow millions of people to suffer and die needlessly.    In our view, this is not embracing  moral values.     

We need to clarify what "moral values" actually are  --  and what they are not.   Please see the page titled:  The Truth About Moral Values.°  

4)   War:   The word "war" induces fear and dread.   It causes people to revert to behavior that they learned very early in life when they were dependent upon people, bigger and wiser than themselves.   

A clear distinction needs to be made between the war in Iraq and the so-called "war on terror."   Although it's vitally important to protect one's safety and security, the war against terrorism  is not a war in the traditional sense.   This distinction needs to be made clear.

Taking Back the Moral High Ground:

Let's get real for a moment.  In order to be leaders you must actually lead.    You cannot win a war from a defensive position.   You must become the protector of moral values,  not another patsy on the Republican bandwagon of hubris bulls--t.    

You are going to have to pull the false, self-righteous foundation out from under the rightwing extremists.   You must counter attack your attackers by challenging what is presently being peddled as "moral values." °   

Right now (Feb 2004)  the Democratic party is responding to the Moral Values" issue the same way that Michael Dukakis responded to the "L" word in 1988.   He allowed the Republicans to define  the word liberal, in the process they defined him.   As you well know, it was an utter and absolute disaster.    

You must redefine several words:    moral values,  liberal, conservative, and the others mentioned above.   For even more power, create a new word to define who you are and what you stand for.   For example  Dump liberal and become the party of "The Reasonables."  See an explanation of this strategy on the page titled:     The Reasonables °   

You must also re-define the issues.   For example, the issue is "Forced motherhood"  and not abortion.   The issue is "Human rights"  for all and not gay marriage.   The issue is "Health research" and  not Christian theology about when life begins.   

This cannot be done in thirty-second sound bites.   You must create a clearly written position statement °  defining yourselves, defining your intentions, and defining the words mentioned above.   Create s special web site on which to do this and promote that site everywhere you go and in every speech given. 

Someone has to stand up and publicly say something similar to the statement below.  And the sooner the better.  Test the waters by having a seeming outsider first speak out against the Republican hypocrisy.   Use something similar to the document below.

Those of us who hold to the Democratic ideals are  the real protector of moral values.*1   We endorse real spiritual values and at the same time reject the Ultra-conservative Republican extremists and we reject their distorted, bigoted,  mud-slinging version of morality.  We reject their sham and their  hypocrisy.*2     The extremist disguise themselves as the owners of moral values.   These people are anything but moral and their behavior is certainly not inherently valuable.   Scare tactic may get votes, but such behavior is not otherwise valuable.

a)   Is forcing unwilling women to bear unwanted children in an already overcrowded world a universally accepted, ethical, and honorable mode of conduct?*3

b)   Is denying people equal legal rights based solely on their private behavior in their own bedrooms universally accepted, ethical, and honorable mode of conduct?   

c)   Let's look at threatening researchers with a million dollar fine and years in jail for using otherwise-to-be-destroyed, embryonic stem cells for promising and vitally needed, medical  research.   Is that a universally accepted, ethical, and honorable mode of conduct?

Are any of these behaviors examples of morality?   The answer is:  " Definitely not!"   Some will say the anti-choice leaders are intent on saving innocent lives.  Yah!   Sure!   Just like Osama Bin laden is pro-American.    The so-called pro-life leaders do not save lives.*4   By their actions, they merely transfers death and misery to other human beings at other times and other places.*5   But please don't either believe or disbelieve what we say here today.  Go to our web site at <__________>   The evidence speaks for itself.

Instead of true morality, our ultra-conservative friends peddle bigotry and prejudice in the halls of our government bodies.   They attempt to violate the United States Constitution.   If anything in government can be considered sacred, it is that document.   They violate the spirit of our Founding Fathers when the peddle their global gag rule over seas and here at home when they dishonor free speech by preventing teachers from answering student legitimate and vital question about how to prevent pregnancy and sexually transmitted diseases.    

They promote fear by using slander and mud slinging, and they do so because it gets vote.   Swift Boat incident with Senator Carry in the 2004 election is a clear example of that.   The Global Gag Rule*6  violates our constitution, but they consider their deplorable behavior to be OK because the violations occur outside the jurisdiction of the American legal system.
