    Abortion in its Grander Context

We cannot succeed at solving the abortion problem if we look at abortion as an isolated problem, distinct and separate form the other major social, political, economic and environmental issues that face us.   

The evidence indicates that we cannot slice a the world  apart into manageable pieces to be dealt with individually.  "Abortion,"   "Environmental Destruction,"   "Poverty,"   "Crime,"  and "Saving Innocent Live"  are all part of a whole in which individual pieces cannot be mixed and matched and mended separately.    We cannot focus on only one issue and ignore all others.   

To obtain a clear picture of abortion -- a clear picture of what it actually is, what it means,  how it relates to other social issues, and how to resolve this problem, we need to examine it in it's very broad context  --  the context where abortion is just one of a multitude of serious problems facing humanity today.

Every problem from global warming to hunger and poverty must be examined, addressed, and resolved within the context of providing the greatest, long-term good for the greatest number of people at the lowest costs.   Costs are for more than money.   We also need to minimize the number of lives lost, reduce grief and misery as much as possible,  maximize individual freedom, and consume the least amount of money, time, effort, and resources?  The resolution must: 1) actually solve or significantly reduce the problem, 2) it must be sustainable, and 3) it must be environmentally sound.

As you well know, humanity is facing some very serious problems,. problems that threaten the very foundation of human life on planet Earth.   We cannot solve these problems unless we, first,  acknowledge that they exist, second, know the accurate facts regarding them, and third, take action that will actually resolve them.

We need to look at what the evidence tells us about all of our major problems, within the broad context mentioned above.    We need to look for and find the most practical, and workable steps to resolve them within our environmental, social, economic, political, and personal contexts.   We need to consider the effect of our actions, globally, locally, and personally.

Lets look at the context and the evidence that will need to be considered in order to resolve the abortion controversy.

    The Evidence that Must be Considered 
        Prior to Deciding How to Resolve the Abortion Problem

Sex:

**   Non-marital sex is not going to go away.   Teen sex is not going to go away either,  no matter how much money is spent telling kids not to have sex.^°    (Teen pregnancy statistics^°  tell us that abstinence programs simply do not work.)

**   If we want to end abortions, we need to go to its root cause.

**    Unwanted pregnancy is the cause of almost all  abortions.   Medical problems account for a very small percentage of abortions (and for the vast majority of late term abortions). 

**   Sexual intercourse is the one and only cause of unwanted pregnancy.   This leaves us with three alternatives;    sexual abstinence,^°      sexual fulfillment without  intercourse,^°    or developing a foolproof contraceptive and getting in into wide spread use.

Social Issues:

**    Thousands of men women and children starve to death every day^°  or die of curable diseases.   Why are millions of dollars and hundreds of thousands of hours of labor and effort spent on saving embryos when that same money could save a thousand "already born babies" for every embryo that is saved.

A Willingness to Reach a Resolution:

**    Both sides in this issue must to be willing to solve the problem.   Unfortunately neither side is willing to compromise, and the anti-abortion side has two vast hidden agendas:     Creating a Christian theocracy^°   and  maintaining public controversies.^° 

The anti-abortion leaders refuse to reach a settlement of this issue for three main reasons:   

First, the abortion controversy is a huge money maker and a ticket to political power..   If they settle this issue, hundreds of millions of dollars in donations will dry up.    Their tool for emotionally moving the public will also go away.   Their political power will also dissipate.  Readers are also directed to the page titled:  Controversy Sells And It's a Multi-billion Dollar Business..

Second, their religious philosophy prevents them from acknowledging that they might be wrong..  

Third, Their belief system tells them that anything short of complete and total adherence to the rules as set down by the church leaders is compromising with the devil, himself, and nobody wants to be though of as the person who made a pact with the devil.   Their doctrine requires them to fight to the death against the devil and to defend the church.   Why?  Because doing so is their ticket to heaven.   It's selling indulgences. in reverse.

The pro-choice leaders are obviously loosing the anti-abortion war.   They have repeatedly been contacted by the Pro-Truth Team regarding the evidence that clearly shows abortion to be a religious freedom issue.   They ignore us and continue with business as  usual.   In spite of the fact that they are on a one-way ride back to coat hanger abortions, they refuse to change their approach.  We have no information as to why they do as they do.   If you know, or can find out, please  Contact Us  '  

The Cost of Resolution:

**    Forcing unwilling women into motherhood is a very inefficient, rather ineffective and extremely expensive way of saving lives.   Actually it has devastating negative consequences.°    

The costs of the anti-abortion war. stager the imagination.   We simply cannot afford to continue paying that price.

Taking Action that Actually Resolves the Problem:

**    Futile gesturing. may ease the conscience but such action does not solve the problems.    For example, the anti-choice forces have managed to get congress to authorize the  spending of   100,000,000 dollars annually of our tax money on sexual abstinence only  programs. There is no evidence that abstinence-only programs work, and these programs prohibit teachers for providing any advice or information for those who are already sexually active.   Thus, not only do the programs not solve the problems, they result in more unwanted pregnancies, produce more abortions, increase venereal diseases, amplify the spread of AIDS, and in the process, generate grief and misery for millions more.

The Price of Resolution:

**    No matter what we do or don't do, many additional people are going to die before any of our major problems are resolved.    And also,  no matter what we do or don't do, additional people will  become sick or injured.

We need to face the fact that there is always a human life cost in every major undertaking.   In military terms, it's know as "The Rule of Expendable Humans.".   Here it is in one sentence:  In order to reach such and such a goal, we anticipate that ___  people will be exposed to life-threatening risks and  ___ people will be injured and ___ will be killed.   

In any major, well-planed undertaking, each possible solution is analyzed in terms of its human life costs, and this factor is part of the evidence analyzed prior to the decision being make regarding how to resolve the problem.   The human life cost is also a factor in the abortion controversy.   

To date, the anti-abortion promoter have focused on saving embryos and fetuses and have completely ignored the deaths of babies, children and adults (except where they can use someone else's misfortune to further their own agenda such as in the Lacy Peterson murder trial).   Any realistic proposal for ending the abortion controversy, must consider all the human-life-costs,  including the deaths of  babies, children and adults.   The grief and misery factor must also be considered.

Before legislators can ethically pass laws restricting abortion, they must first provide provable answer these questions:    What Is Life?.    What Is A Human Being?  When Does an Independent Human Life Begin?. and  dozens more equally  puzzling and equally unanswerable, religious questions..
